I really do appreciate how difficult this must be for you and your family. I make no appologies for it. My sole intenion for publishing this, isn't to give my version far from it. It is to preserve the evidence that was available to the Police at the time. More importantly it is for people to remember that a totally innocent young man was killed on the streets of King's Lynn and still nothing has been done about it. My "crusade for justice" didn't start 7 years ago as you suggested. It started immediately all charges were dropped. It was me that started a pettion in which 5000 signatures were collected calling on the then Home Secretary to invite another Police force or a Senior Judge to reinvestigate this crime. I refer you to my posts dated 20.04.2008. I had meetings with my M.P., attended local Police and community meetings where I raised the issue, wrote letters to the local and national press. Since then I have emailed lots of book publishers, film makers and documentary programmes with only one purpose in mind, to get justice for Tony and his family.
You asked did I know who killed Tony, all I have to go on is the statements taken by the Police. Like I've already said in the Blog when I was remanded to Norwich Prison along with Rod and Karl, I assumed Karl had done as I was not with him that night and I knew Rod and I hadn't done it. It was only after reading statements that I realised the Police had truly got things wrong about him too. To get a better understanding of events you really need to read as much as possible however hard it seems. I've published the statements as they were recorded. It's no good me picking this bit out or that bit as it wouldn't be the whole truth, it would be just my version. Good or bad it's in there.

The 3rd man

Someone has emailed me today asking" who is the third attacker Daw refers to along with Withers and Allen? ".
I haven't put the 3rd persons name in because although the Police know the name they have not interviewed him since Daw's alegation. This person did make a statement to the Police in which he says he was at the club etc. He was for whatever reason not questioed further after Daws statement. It may come as a surprise to him if the Police ever decided to reinvestigate, so I wouldn't like to pre warn him.

Ia am an aunt by marriage to Anthony Gorman my husband being the brother of the father of Anthony I cannot understand this persuance of the so called truth of why Anthony died , have the widow, daughter, parents ever been considered in this cruel what would seem ego-trip of M England to get absolution/credible witnesses to his brand of truth, having read his history/resumee should I be scared of anything which I am not I am in the Autumn of my life hoping to gallop into the gales of my Winter, so please if you have credible knowledge of events do not play to anything else than the truth, an article in an obscure magazine was published many years ago pertaining to this subject is it the same source? you are right M England you are not a writer and Guy Ritchie will not be calling for a script being a writer myself I can bet on this...B Gorman.

Let me just reiterate, EVERYTHING I have posted are EXACT copies of statements that were taken by the Police. I have also included press cuttings that were in the local press. It is not my "brand of the truth". Tony's dad had the oppertunity to see all the statements I have now produced 17 years ago, he chose not to. I respected his decision. One reason to post it now is to preserve the truth. I would hardly call it an ego trip. It has no relation to any other article published in a magazine. Did I consider his family members before I decided to do this? I have considered them for 17 years, but this isn't about them this is about ME. I too have lived with this for 17 years.

Kenneth Baker let us down

I was deeply dissapointed when Kenneth Baker turned down the request for some form of inquiry, be it another Police Force or a senior Judge. Tony Gorman was kicked to death on the streets of King's Lynn and the Police couldn't even manage to prosecute anyone for asaulting him let alone the murder, he at least deserved an inquiry. I've mentioned it before, but it is worthy of another mention especially as the Police and CPS kept banging on about not been able to determine the cause of Tony's death and hence been unable to prosecute anyone. G.B.H. at that time carried a maximum sentence of life in prison, that surely was an option to them had they infact got the right people. Kenneth Baker said it was for the Chief Constable to decide if he wanted the case looked at again, but he was hardly going to do that was he? I think the only person happier than the Chief Constable about Ken Bakers' decision was Gary Withers. He certainly hadn't been with Rod, Karl and me on the streets gathering a petition. I would like to say a big thank you to my M.P. Henry Bellingham for taking the time to listen to Rod, Karl and myself. He didn't shy away when 3 men accused of murder requested to see him. He's a very sincere person and will always get my vote, thanks Henry.

Chief Constable of Norfolk P J Ryan letter

It was easy for the Chief Constable to write a letter like this when the information I've made posted on this Blog wasn't available to the general public.
Mr Ryan can argue that the statement made at the King's Lynn Magistrates court "evidence flawed beyond repair" was a remark relating to a single witness. What I find very strange, I would even go as far as to say DISTURBING, Mr Ryan was "satisfied my officers carried out a wide ranging and detailed investigation into complex circumstances leaving no stone unturned". Mr Ryan all I can say is your easily satisfied. Why was it then that the Crown after such a "meticulous inquiry" could only produce one witness namely Gary Sewell, even though 8 other people witnessed the Murder. One of the reasons why I wanted another force to re-investigate this Murder was to see WHY there was inconsistencies in witness evidence.
"no stone unturned"? It's laughable, remember Gary Sewell was interviewed for 80 plus minutes over a 2 day period. I've stated it before but he was NEVER once asked if I was involved. Why was that stone left unturned Mr Ryan ? Another stone left unturned was the implication of Tony Crown by people who witnessed him assault Gorman outside the club, one even said he hit Gorman before I intervened inside the club. He was NEVER questioned about that. Although when he made his witness statement he was asked about a graze on his face, he said he did it "mucking about" with his mates earlier that night. His mates didn't mention it in their statements though. If you've read all the statements I've posted you can come to your own conclusion about "leaving no stone unturned". What a load of bollocks was my conclusion. I would have loved to have seen what conclusion another Police force would have come up with but that was not to be. One more thing, out of the 4 people charged with Tony Gormans Murder only 3 of us were asking for an independent inquiry. Gary Withers was not, draw you own conclusion about that.

Let me tell you a little bit about the hate mail and how it came to stop. I received the first one soon after I got out of prison. It didn't take me long to realise there was a good chance the sender was a Policeman. He talked about the case but he mentions things that were never said in court. He uses words like "stir" meaning prison. In the letter my wife received he says "your hubby" he also says I was "high on drugs no doubt". Now unfortunately for DC 448 Williamson all the statements I received were in hand written form and it didn't take me long to match statements he had taken with that of the hate mail. Low and behold the only statement that ever mentioned ( mistakenly )the possibility that I may have been on drugs was taken by him. My solicitor and all the people I showed them too thought there was enough similarities to send them away for analysis. As part of my bail I had to travel into King's Lynn and sign at the Police station, one particular Saturday I asked to speak to DC Williamson, I told him I knew the letters were from him and he had better stop sending them. Guess what I didn't receive any more. I could of pursued it further when the analysis report came back but I didn't bother, partly because Williamson had been involved in interviewing Gorman's wife and parents and I could understand how emotionally involved he had become. I saw him the other day, he's now Inspector Williamson. Good for him.

Old Style Committal

The crown decided to put the evidence they had at what is called an old style committal. That is where they present their evidence in front of, in this case it was a stipendiary magistrate (a paid magistrate usually a lawyer ) to determine whether there is enough evidence for the case to continue. Although there were 187 witness statements taken, there were only 9 people who witnessed anything in relation to the assault on Tony Gorman. I have posted all their statements, but just to recap they were:- Gary Sewell, Jason Colman, Mark Branham, Caroline Scott, Clifford Ellis, Colin Lord, Terry Meierhofer, Gary Daw and Shelley Mitchelson.
The CPS took the peculiar decision to only present Gary Sewell’s evidence at the committal. Before I go on, just stop and think about that for a moment. A young man has been savagely beaten and although the Crown can no longer link that beating with his death, some people said “conveniently”. All the man hours that went into investigating (excuse me while I laugh ) this Murder, I still call it Murder, not like the CPS who in my opinion used the 2nd Pathologists report as a way out of the whole fucking mess they got themselves into. Anyway after all the so called hard work the police did, they offer Gary Sewell as their star witness. The one person they believe can get them a conviction. Forget Gary Daw and Shelley Mitchelson who both picked out Gary Withers on ID parades. Against that evidence they go after Karl instead.
The courts had set aside 5 days in which to hear the committal and the big day eventually arrives, after 3 hours the case collapses. I will post the press cuttings for you to read. You have to ask yourself something, did the CPS and the Police really expect or even want this case to get past the committal? I suggest they most definitely DID NOT! Why then would you only offer as a witness Gary Sewell, who on numerous occasions had said it was definitely not Karl? The crown knew full well what this bombshell would do; it would put to bed this whole damn mess. What’s nearly as bad is the general public in King’s Lynn were not particularly bothered. It was just fish and chip wrapping paper to them.

Re: The 2nd Pathologist report

I have a couple of very important observations regarding this second report. Firstly his report is based on the WRONG information, given to him by the Police. He says Gorman received a broken nose due to an alleged headbutt outside the club. Without being examined at the nightclub how could anyone say he had a broken nose. A witness wrongly stated I head butted Gorman before I threw him out, but there was NOT one statement taken that said Gorman had any sign of an injury when he left the area of the Cellar Bar. Even Gary Sewell said he didn’t see any injuries on Gorman when they walked away together. I mentioned that because in a closed session of the court the CPS talked about dropping charges against Karl and withers and continuing the prosecution solely against me based on this report. I hope that sounds as unbelievable to you as it did to me, but it’s true. This again just shows a total disregard of the evidence. The prosecution ignored the witnesses that said Gorman was knocked down the stairs by Tony Crown and the beating Gorman received by the 3 unknowns. Again how were they ever going to prove Gorman received a broken nose inside the club? In any event they confounded everyone by changing tack again and only pursued Karl.
Something that was never followed up after this report and in my opinion should have been. The suggestion that Gorman may have inhaled drugs. Remember Gary Sewell in his interviews and his statement said how together him Gorman and Robert White had gone to Sewell’s house to pick up an inhaler Sewell had for his asthma. It isn’t beyond the realms of possibility that Gorman may have used it and had some form of reaction to it. If the Police had had their eye on the ball this might have sounded alarm bells to them. As with most things in this case if it didn’t point to me they ignored it.
